A 48-year-old Worth Township man who shot his girlfriend’s dog in the head with an air rifle last week was charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty, police said.
The dog was later euthanized, according to Cook County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari.
Andrew Plecki remained in Cook County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of $40,000 bail, jail records show.
Sheriff’s police were called to the Crestwood Animal Care clinic on May 26, Ansari said, about a 12-year-old chocolate Lab that had been shot in the head with an air rifle earlier in the day in the 11700 block of South Ridgeland Avenue in Worth Township.
Plecki was arrested and appeared in bond court on May 27, Ansari said. His next court date is June 17 at the Bridgeview courthouse, she said.
