On Friday, The Drama Group will be hosting a performance of a British farce with the help of actors who may know it best.
Alan Ayckbourn’s “Taking Steps” comes to Chicago Heights as The Drama Group celebrates 15 years of its Theatre Exchange Program with the Stables Theatre in Hastings, England.
Every year, the program provides actors with an opportunity to spend time abroad to experience and appreciate the different styles of American and British playwrights through performances and workshops.
“Taking Steps” tells the story of a wealthy new husband, Roland, and his wife, Elizabeth, who are seeking to buy an abandoned haunted house as their new home. But when Elizabeth plans to leave him and seeks the help of her brother, Mark, plans go wildly wrong as more characters become involved with the scene unfolding at the rundown estate.
Performances begin Friday at 7:30 p.m. at The Drama Group studio building in Chicago Heights, and continue Saturday and June 12 through 14 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee performances will be at 2 p.m. Sunday and June 15. Tickets can be purchased online at www.dramagroup.org or by calling the box office at (708) 755-3444.
