A man was critically injured after being hit by a freight train in Frankfort on Saturday afternoon.
The westbound freight train struck the man on Canadian National tracks about a quarter mile east of Harlem Avenue about 4:30 p.m., CN spokesman Patrick Waldron said. The tracks cross Harlem about a half mile north of Laraway Road.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the man, believed to be in his 40s, under the train, Frankfort Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Sean Fierce said.
He was taken in critical condition to St. James Health in Olympia Fields, Fierce said.
