Two men were killed in separate shootings in Chicago Heights since Saturday, and charges are pending in one of the slayings, according to police.
They said a suspect was being questioned Tuesday in the death of Frank Carter, 38, whose body was found about 7:30 p.m. Monday outside his house in the 400 block of West 15th Place.
Carter was dead at the scene, and an autopsy Tuesday found that he died of multiple gunshot wounds, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Police said they’re also investigating the fatal shooting Saturday of a 19-year-old city resident in the 400 block of West 17th Street. Officers responded about 5:35 p.m. to a call of shots fired and found Henry Strong with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police.
Strong, of the 300 block of Standish Street, was taken by paramedics to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights and later airlifted to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Police declined to comment Tuesday on whether the two shootings are connected. Police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force ask anyone with information on the killings to call police at (708) 756-6400.
