A Hazel Crest bank was robbed Thursday afternoon, according to the FBI, which believes it may have been the suspect’s fourth bank heist in the Southland in a one-week span.
The Chase Bank branch at 3480 W. 183rd St. was robbed about 1:15 p.m., according to FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde.
Authorities believe the same man has robbed three other banks since June 12: the Charter One Bank branch at 1400 Torrence Ave. in Calumet City at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday, the PNC Bank branch at 10701 S. Western Ave. in Chicago’s Morgan Park community on Tuesday, and the South Division Credit Union at 9122 S. Kedzie Ave. in Evergreen Park on June 12.
The suspect, who does not show a weapon, is described as a black man about 6-foot-2, with black-rimmed glasses and with facial hair but otherwise bald. He was wearing a white T-shirt, faded dark shorts and a black cap Thursday.
In the first three robberies, he wore a dark cap.
No one was injured in any of the robberies.
Anyone with information should call the FBI at (312) 421-6700, authorities said.
