Virginia Miller, a junior at Evergreen Park Community High School, scored a perfect 36 composite score on her ACT, a college entrance exam, according to a press release from the school.
According to ACT, on average, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of all test takers earns a top score, the release said. Among Illinois test takers in 2013, for example, just 0.079 percent of students achieved ACT perfection, the release said.
Virginia is ranked No. 1 in Evergreen Park’s Class of 2015, with a grade-point average of 4.954 on a 4.0 scale, the release said.
She participates on the girls softball team and next school year will be starting her fourth year as a varsity cheerleader, and also has been the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award for cheerleading, according to the school.
Virginia has been involved in many clubs and activities, including the Mustang Monitor, student leadership, student government, peer tutoring, international club, mathletes, Scholastic Bowl, freshman mentor program, National Honor Society, environmental committee, Model UN, science club, athletic leadership, principal’s advisory council, Future Business Leaders of America, and she recently was selected to be the student ambassador for the school board for the 2014-15 school year, the release said.
