Mayor: Country Club Hills boy dies after ‘terrible accident’

Updated: August 4, 2014 12:19PM

An 11-year-old boy died Wednesday, four days after he fell and hit his head in Country Club Hills, according to the city’s mayor.

Pierre McLoyd, of the 4300 block of 190th Place, fell Saturday in the 4100 block of Russet Way, according to Country Club Hills Mayor Dwight Welch and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

McLoyd was taken to Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office said.

Welch said the boy fell from the top of a parked vehicle Saturday during a family party and hit his head.

“It was a terrible accident and the family is in mourning,” Welch said. “The city is praying along with them.”

A representative from the Country Club Hills Police Department could not be immediately reached for comment Wednesday evening.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
