Central Collision Center, which has six Southland locations, is holding its Christmas in July food drive through July 23 to benefit Alicia’s House Food Pantry, a nonprofit organization in South Chicago Heights.
This marks Central Collision’s 10th year supporting Alicia’s House and the company’s inaugural summer food drive, according to a press release from the company.
“We moved our annual food drive from Thanksgiving to summer because this is a great time of need for Alicia’s House,” Mike Caruso, president/owner of Central Collision, said in the release. “People often think of giving back at the holidays but the need is year-round. Our goal is to stock Alicia’s House until the traditional holiday food drives begin.”
During the company’s 2013 Thanksgiving food drive, Central Collision donated 5,413 items to Alicia’s House, the release said.
Operating entirely off of donations, Alicia’s House feeds 60 to 90 low-income families each week in Crete, Beecher, Steger, Monee, Peotone, University Park and South Chicago Heights, according to the release.
Nonperishable food items and unopened toiletries can be dropped off at Central Collision offices in Peotone, Mokena, Crete, New Lenox, Oak Forest and Tinley Park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Central Collision will match 100 percent of donations. For more information, visit www.centralcollision.com and click on the “blog” link, or visit aliciashouse.org.
