A Hickory Hills man has been charged with drunken driving in connection with a July 1 crash in Burbank that killed an elderly Chicago man.
A Cook County judge set bail at $500,000 for Nicholas Raspanti, 42, whose vehicle collided head-on with one driven by Jozef Brzek on State Road near Mayfield Avenue about 6:45 p.m., according to Burbank police. They said Raspanti was northeast on State Road and crossed into oncoming traffic.
Brzek, 77, of the 4300 block of Ford City Drive, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 9:19 a.m. July 5, the county medical examiner’s office said.
An autopsy Sunday found that Brzek died of multiple injuries from the accident and listed heart disease as a secondary factor, according to the medical examiner’s office.
