A free concert featuring B4 and After is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Mokena’s Main Park, 10925 W. LaPorte Road.
The band’s name stems from its show, which takes listeners on a musical journey starting from before the Beatles stormed the rock scene on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” It also performs songs from each of the Fab Four’s solo careers that followed the Beatles’ breakup.
In addition to a long list of songs from Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the group also performs some from Badfinger and the Traveling Wilburys.
“This group evolved from a band called Instant Karma, which performed for eight years, and before that a band called American English for 17 years,” the group’s Bob Blider said.
The concessions stand will be open. Attendees should bring blankets and/or chairs, according to organizers. Alcohol, candles and sparklers are prohibited, according to the Mokena Community Park District website.
Joliet to host Metra Board
In an effort to foster better communication with riders, the Metra Board of Directors will hold its meeting in Joliet on Friday.
This will be its second meeting outside the agency’s headquarters in downtown Chicago. It also met in the DuPage County Board Room in Wheaton.
“As part of our commitment to openness and transparency, we are making ourselves and our deliberations more accessible to the people we represent in the six-county area,” board Chairman Martin J. Oberman said in a press release. “We believe it is important to periodically hold our meetings throughout our service area so riders can more easily participate and have their voices heard by Metra’s board and management.”
Friday’s meeting will take place in the Will County Board Room on the second floor of the Will County office building, 302 N. Chicago St., Joliet.
