One person was killed and parts of Interstate 57 were shut down for five hours after a dump truck carrying gravel rolled over Saturday morning.
The incident happened at 8:55 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-57 near 159th Street in Markham, Illinois State Police said. All lanes north of 159th were shut down until about 2 p.m., state police said.
The driver of the dump truck died as a result of the crash, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but did not have additional information.
