More senior housing planned

Updated: August 24, 2014 6:24AM

Plans for an assisted-living center and memory care unit have received preliminary approval from Orland Park trustees.

Heritage Enterprises would operate a three-story, 72,300-square-foot center, called Parkview Senior Living, and a 33,800-square-foot memory care unit at 10758 W. 183rd St., east of Parkview Christian Church.

A village board committee on Monday night approved the plans, which are expected to be voted on by the full board next month.

Based in Bloomington, Illinois, Heritage owns or operates more than 40 such facilities in Illinois and Indiana.

If the village board grants final approval for the project, construction could begin within four to six weeks, according to John Dondanville, a real estate consultant working with Heritage. He said construction would take about a year to complete.

An additional parking lot would be built as part of the project.
