Preparations were underway Thursday afternoon for the annual Taste of Orland Park, which will be held Friday through Sunday at the Village Center.

Workers were setting up the main stage Thursday afternoon in preparation for the bands that will play during the event, and rows of tents were set up along the parking lot at the Village Center, 14700 Ravinia Ave., for the restaurants that will be participating.

The Taste is one the village’s two biggest summer festivals (Orland Days being the other), and it drew about 35,000 people last summer.

Those attending this weekend will be able to sample food from 20 different Orland Park restaurants while enjoying musical entertainment from a variety of bands — highlighted by the popular Beatles cover band, American English, which will conclude the Taste on Sunday night.

The Taste also will feature Orland Park’s Got Talent, an amateur competition involving village residents in which those at the festival can vote for their favorite performers. Another attraction is Kids Day, which will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The taste’s hours will be 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
