SD 218 hosts back-to-school health fair Friday

Several medical facilities and government agencies will join Community High School District 218 to host a back-to-school health fair Friday at Eisenhower High School, 12700 S. Sacramento, Blue Island, according to a press release from District 218.

The event is to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature a limited number of free school physicals, free dental exams and free vision screens, the release said.

Reduced-cost school physicals for $40, immunizations for $10, and comprehensive eye exams for $40 also will be offered, it said. Parents must accompany their children in order for them to receive health care services, according to the release. Parents also must bring their children’s immunization records to the fair for them to receive shots, the release said.

Free vision screenings and free health screens for blood pressure, bone density, body glucose and others also will be available from MetroSouth Medical Center, Advocate Christ Medical Center, Complete Vision Care, the St. Xavier University health center, Orland Park Dental and others, according to the release.

The fair includes free food, drinks and free school supplies, and, for young children, free games, a bounce house, clowns and face painting, according to the release.

District 218 will provide free bus service to and from the fair from a number of sites. Buses will depart the health fair for the return trip at 2 p.m.

The bus stops, listed with pickup and drop-off times, respectively, include the following, according to the release:

Calumet Park Village Hall: 10:10 a.m., 2:20 p.m.

Calumet Park Public Library: 10:15, 2:15

St. Isidore Church, Blue Island: 10:20, 2:15

St. Donatus Church, Blue Island: 10:25, 2:15

Lincoln School, Blue Island: 10:10, 2:10

Keller Middle School, Robbins: 10:15, 2:15

Delta Learning Center, Robbins: 10:20, 2:20

Turner School, Robbins: 10:25, 2:25

Revere Primary School, Blue Island: 10:10, 2:05

Kerr Middle School, Blue Island: 10:20, 2:10

Memorial Park, Blue Island: 10:25, 2:15
