A woman was shot by a man wearing a mask who robbed a Bolingbrook bank early Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the First Midwest Bank at 450 N. Bolingbrook Road about noon, Lt. Mike Rompa of the Bolingbrook police said.

Police were advised that a gun was fired and a female employee of the bank suffered a gunshot wound to her arm, he said.

The suspect ran away and police continued the search, Rompa said.

The victim was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, Rompa said, and her condition is not known.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, about 6 feet and 190 pounds, according to the FBI. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans, red baseball hat and black bandanna with white markings, Rompa said.

The hat had a Chicago Bulls logo on it, according to the FBI.

Just across the street, at 134 E. Boughton Road, a Portillo’s restaurant was locked down for about an hour, an employee of the store said. No one was allowed to leave or enter the store.

The FBI is now handling the investigation, Rompa said.
