Smoking dispute leads to Orland Park BB shooting

Updated: September 15, 2014 4:37PM

An Orland Park man has been accused of shooting a neighbor with a BB gun because he was angry that the neighbor was smoking on the neighbor’s balcony, police said.

Richard Lisowski, 39, 15121 Quail Hollow Drive, #505, is charged with battery in the July 18 incident.

The victim told police he was smoking a cigarette on the balcony of his condominium when he heard someone shout, “Hey! Hey! Put that cigarette out now!” from a balcony above him.

The victim looked up, saw a man crouching and aiming what he thought was a handgun at him and then heard several loud pops, according to police. They said the man began bleeding from a wound to his face but declined medical treatment.

Officers went to the condo where the shooter was seen and questioned Lisowski, who told police he owned a BB gun but had not fired it recently. He admitted to drinking vodka all day and later conceded that he “may have done something stupid if I blacked out,” police said.

Evidence technicians were able to determine that holes in his screen were consistent with a BB gun having been fired downward toward the victim’s balcony.
