Tinley Park man finds heroin purse

Updated: September 14, 2014 6:19AM

A Tinley Park man in the 7200 block of 174th Place told police he found a pink purse filled with baggies of a white powdery substance a few feet away from his gutter after noticing the gutter had been damaged Aug. 4.

Police said the 10 baggies each contained one capsule filled with a substance that tested positive for heroin and they also discovered an Illinois driver’s license linked to a woman who had been involved in a recent hit and run at 175th and Sandalwood.

Police contacted the woman by phone, who said she now lives in Indiana but agreed to come to the police station Aug. 5 to retrieve her purse. When questioned, the woman said she did not know anything about the heroin in her purse and thought it must belong to her boyfriend. Police returned the woman’s purse and released her without charges.
