Man wounded in Morgan Park shooting

A man who is a known gang member was injured early Thursday in a shooting in Chicago’s Morgan Park community, police said.

The 27-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk with a group of people about 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of Carpenter Street and 113th Place when someone walked out of a gangway across the street and started shooting, police said.

The man, a documented gang member, was shot in the leg, police said. No one else was struck.

The man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stable, police said.
