A 17-year-old Orland Park boy is charged with breaking into multiple vehicles this month in the village and stealing electronics, wallets and sunglasses, police reported.
The break-ins happened in the 17100 block of Winding Creek Drive and the 16800 to 17100 blocks of Steeplechase Parkway overnight on Aug. 11 and 12, according to police.
They said the teen was seen in the area early on Aug. 12 and ran from officers, dropping a backpack that he was carrying before being caught by police and arrested a short distance away.
Two officers were hurt during the foot chase, police said, with one sustaining a back injury while tackling the teen in a wooded area, and another having facial abrasions from running through the woods during the pursuit.
The teen, who was not identified because of his age, lives in the 17000 block of Steeplechase Parkway, was charged with multiple counts of vehicle burglary as well as aggravated battery of a police officer, according to police.
