Police: Man breaks into home in Flossmoor, assaults woman

Flossmoor police are looking for a man who allegedly broke into a woman’s home over the weekend and sexually assaulted her in her bedroom before demanding money, according to a news release.
The incident happened about 12:10 a.m. Sunday on the 1200 block of Douglas Avenue.
The victim told police a man cut open her kitchen window screen to get into her home. Once inside, he entered the victim’s bedroom and sexually assaulted her, demanded money and then fled, according to the release.
According to the police, the attacker is described as an African-American male between 30 and 35 years old, 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, medium build, wearing gray sweatpants and black shirt.
The 1200 block of Douglas Avenue is a residential neighborhood with no street lights other than the ones in front of each home.
The incident took place less than a block away from the Flossmoor Village Hall, which holds the village’s police and fire department.
