Police: Masked gunmen rob Frankfort gas station

Updated: October 6, 2014 6:19AM

Two masked gunmen robbed a Speedway gas station in Frankfort early Thursday, making off with cash, cigars and the store’s phone, police reported.

Police said they are checking video surveillance tapes that recorded the heist, which took place at 1:27 a.m. at U.S. 30 and Wolf Road.

The robbers entered the gas station, displayed handguns and demanded money, according to police. No shots were fired, and no one was injured as the robbers fled with a few hundred dollars, cigars and the business telephone, Deputy Police Chief Kevin Keegan said.

It’s unknown whether the robbers fled by foot or in a vehicle, police said.

The suspects were described as black, both about 6 feet tall, with slender builds and from 20 to 25 years old.

One was wearing a brown or tan mask, gloves, a gray sweatshirt, black shorts and black shoes with a white swoosh.

The second wore a mask, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white stripe and black pants.

Anyone one with information should contact Frankfort police at (815) 469-9435.
