Oak Lawn will mark the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States of America with a ceremony Thursday at the train station, where beams from the New York’s World Trade Center are displayed.
Village Manager Larry Deetjen said that the memorial event will begin at 9:11 a.m.
“It will be a short service with several guest speakers. Members of the VFW will be there along with police officer and fire fighters, which is fitting because of the many first responders who died that day,” Deetjen said.
There will be free parking available west of the train station at the site of an unused railroad spur, he said.
