Police shot and killed a dog while responding to a domestic disturbance Thursday morning on Chicago’s South Side.
Officers had been dispatched to a domestic disturbance about 6:05 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Chappel Avenue and while there, they were “forced to destroy a residential dog,’’ police officer Darryl Baety said.
No one was injured. Baety said he did not know what breed of dog was shot.
“If an animal poses an immediate threat to the safety of an officer or another individual, an officer may take appropriate measures to defuse the threat,’’ Baety said.
