Park Forest woman killed on I-80

A Park Forest woman was killed and another person injured Wednesday afternoon in an Interstate 80 accident involving a car and two semi trucks, Illinois State Police said.

Police did not release the name of the woman who died but said she was 60 years old. The injured person was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, police said.

They said the collision occurred about 2:20 p.m. in I-80’s westbound lanes, just west of Interstate 355. A car was hit from the rear by a semi, causing the car to spin into the other lane where it was struck by another truck, according to police.

Traffic was rerouted off I-80 onto northbound Interstate 355 until the westbound lanes reopened about 5:20 p.m., police said.
