Accident kills worker in Mokena

An Aurora man was killed Wednesday in a forklift accident at a Mokena landscaping business.
Jose R. Barrera-Ruiz, 35, was pronounced dead at 7:22 a.m. at Silver Cross Hospital from multiple injuries, the Will County coroner’s office said.
Police Chief Randy Rajewski said police and fire units were called to Brickman Landscaping, 18911 Wolf Road, where Barrera-Ruiz had been moving equipment with a forklift.
The vehicle flipped over, ejected Barrera-Ruiz and landed on him, Rajewski said.
He said police turned the case over to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which investigates workplace accidents.
