Updated: December 2, 2011 8:17AM

Cardinal Francis George will celebrate the 100th anniversary of St. James Hospital with a Thanksgiving Mass on Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Chicago Heights.

The 10:30 a.m. Mass will celebrate the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration, who opened the 50-bed St.
James Hospital on Thanksgiving Day in 1911.

It is the culmination of Franciscan St. James Health’s yearlong centennial celebration, which has included several community events and a Centennial Gala.

Franciscan St. James Health has campuses in Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, as well as facilities throughout the Southland.

Bishop Joseph N. Perry, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago, also will celebrate the Mass at St. Agnes Church, 1501 Chicago Road.
