An Evergreen Park man was charged Monday night with armed robberies recently on Chicago’s North Side, according to police.
Marcus Parker, 23, of the 9800 block of Maplewood Avenue, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and possessing a firearm and ammunition without a valid firearm owner’s ID card, police said. They said Parker’s alleged accomplice, Joel Shavers, 22, of Chicago, was charged with armed robbery.
Chicago tactical officers got a call of an armed robbery about 7:20 p.m. in the 2900 block of North Mildred Avenue, police said, and received a detailed description of two robbers who had fled on foot toward an el station.
Officers boarded a train on that line, spotted two men matching the description and arrested them, according to police. They said Parker was carrying a loaded handgun.
The 22-year-old victim identified Parker and Shavers as the men who robbed him, and police recovered from them several items stolen in the recent holdups, police said.
