A South Chicago Heights man apparently wasn’t very convincing Dec. 3 when he told a clerk at 7-Eleven, 3401 Chicago Road in Steger that he had a gun and to give him cash from the register, police said.
They said the clerk refused, stepped outside and called police from a cell phone while the gunman left on foot.
Officers soon spotted the would-be robber outside a Marathon gas station, 3400 Union Ave., and arrested him after a brief struggle, according to police.
Brian J. Sullivan, 38, 3034 Chicago Road, Steger, was identified by the clerk and was charged with attempted robbery and resisting arrest, police said. They said no weapon was found on Sullivan.
