A Metra train struck and killed an unidentified man early Monday near downtown Tinley Park, authorities said.
The Rock Island Line train was pulling into the Oak Park Avenue station when it struck the man about 12:10 a.m., Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
“He had no ID on him. All we know is he was walking between the tracks near Ridgeland Avenue,” Tom Miller, another Metra spokesman, said.
Tinley Park police have not received any reports about a missing man, Cmdr. Steve Vaccaro said Monday night.
The train, scheduled to arrive in Joliet at 12:40 a.m., was stopped for about an hour and 50 minutes as emergency crews responded, according to Metra. It was the last train of the night on the line, Gillis said.
