State Sen. Maggie Crotty (D-Oak Forest) announced Thursday she will not seek re-election in 2012.
She will complete her term that expires in January 2013, according to a news release.
Crotty was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1996 and to the Illinois Senate in 2002, where she is currently the Assistant Majority Leader.
Crotty said it was time to spend more time with her family, “including my five precious grandchildren.”
The news release indicated she intends to continue her role as Bremen Township supervisor.
