A vehicle fatally struck an 81-year-old woman early Tuesday outside her Merrionette Park home.
Firefighters and paramedics responded at 6:14 a.m. to the 3100 block of West 115th Street after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, Merrionette Park Asst. Fire Chief Richard McNicholas said.
Joan McElroy, 81, of 3179 W. 115th St. in Merrionette Park, was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.
An autopsy Wednesday found McElroy died of multiple injuries from a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle. Her death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.
There were no other reports of injuries.
Merrionette Park police refused comment on the crash Wednesday afternoon. It’s unclear whether the driver has been cited or charged.
