About 15 households in Country Club Hills had low water pressure for nearly nine hours Friday after a main broke at 168th Place and Pulaski Road, city water director Dan Barr said.

A police officer noticed water on Pulaski Road about 6:15 a.m. and alerted the water department, Barr said.

Crews from Sunset Sewer & Water, based in Beecher, repaired the water main as village crews supervised, Barr said. Full service was restored by 4 p.m.

“Residents were never without water, but the pressure was low,” Barr said.

The right-hand lane of northbound Pulaski Road was closed to traffic while repairs were made, he said.

Blame wintry weather for the break.

“It got pretty cold (Thursday) night. When the ground, which had been warm, all of a sudden gets cold, that puts more pressure on water mains,” Barr said.
