Sgt. Dominic D’Ambrosio was sworn in Tuesday as Oak Forest’s new deputy police chief, filling a position that has been vacant since the previous deputy chief retired in July.
Police Chief Greg Anderson said D’Ambrosio will start the new position on Sunday.
D’Ambrosio has worked in the department since 2002, serving as a patrolman until he became the department’s first full-time tactical investigator.
“He’s always eager to volunteer and does not shy away from added responsibility,” Anderson said. “Dominic is a ‘go-to’ person.”
D’Ambrosio volunteered to serve as the department’s lead defensive tactics trainer and on the policy review committee. He earned bachelor’s degrees in business management and interdisciplinary studies and is a recent graduate of the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy’s Management and Leadership Development Program.
