An Oak Forest woman had $200 cash stolen Jan. 20 by a man who claimed to be her neighbor in the 6100 block of Forestview Drive, police said.
The man told the 69-year-old resident that he needed to know if her electricity was working and asked her to wait while he went into the back yard to find out if there was a problem, according to police.
They said the homeowner waited for about 10 minutes until she realized the front door was open and the man was gone. She later discovered that the money, which was in $2 bills, was missing from a dresser drawer in her bedroom, police said.
The woman told police she believes the same man came to her door about a month ago, looking for her husband.
