Autopsy results in Dolton crash involving a Chicago Heights driver

A Monday autopsy found that Herbert T. Lewis died of multiple injuries from a Dolton crash and ruled his death an accident, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
One other motorist was injured after the two-vehicle crash early Sunday on the Bishop Ford Expressway where alcohol is believed to be a factor.
A 2010 red Chevrolet Camaro was traveling south on Interstate 94 near Dolton Avenue at 6:55 a.m. when it struck the rear passenger side of a 2004 silver Hyundai Sonata, which lost control and crashed into a wall, according to a release from Illinois State Police District Chicago.
Both drivers were originally taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, according to ISP District Chicago.
Lewis, who state police said was driving the Hyundai, was later taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:17 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Lewis, 60, lived in the 1200 block of Dunamon Drive in Bartlett, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
The driver of the Chevy, identified as Kambai Penix, 40, of the 19800 block of South Orchard in Chicago Heights, was treated and released.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and charges are pending.
All southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford expressway were reopened about 10:45 a.m.
