A 6-year-old child who on Monday fell from a third-story apartment window in Tinley Park is “absolutely fine” after suffering only minor injuries, Tinley Park police said Tuesday.

The child was being supervised by his family when he fell about 5:15 p.m. in the 7400 block of 175th Street, police said.

“There was no foul play. It was purely accidental,” Tinley Park Police Cmdr. Steve Vaccaro said. “It’s just one of those freak things.”

Police continue to investigate how the child fell, but he landed on gravel, Vaccaro said.

The child was taken by paramedics to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and police contacted the Department of Children and Family Services as a routine part of the investigation.
