An 18-year-old woman was choked and thrown to the ground Aug. 25 by a man who pursued her into a shopping center parking lot in a case of road rage, police said.
The woman told police she was westbound on Interstate 80 about 11:30 p.m. when she suddenly switched lanes to avoid a construction zone and apparently angered the driver of a dark Buick LeSabre that began tailgating her.
The woman exited I-80 onto southbound Harlem Avenue, but the Buick followed her as she drove to Brookside Marketplace Mall, 191st Street and Harlem Avenue, according to police.
They said the woman parked, and the driver parked nearby and stared at her, causing her to leave her car and run toward the Super Target store. The man ran after her, grabbed her by the throat and knocked her to the ground, police said.
They said he ran back to his car and drove off while the woman called police.
