Police in Lansing are investigating the death of a 15-year-old Country Club Hills boy whose body was found in an alley early Wednesday.

The boy was identified as Asonte Gutierrez, of the 4700 block of West 185th Place, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy showed he had been shot twice in the head with a shotgun and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police found the boy’s body about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday after someone called to report an unresponsive teen lying in an alley in the 17000 block of Lorenz Avenue, according to a press release from the Lansing Police Department.

A person of interest was found in the area and was taken in for questioning, and a lieutenant with the department said that person was still being questioned.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting with the investigation.
