Autopsy inconclusive in Worth infant death under investigation

Updated: January 4, 2013 6:21AM

An autopsy Sunday could not determine the cause of death for a 2-month-old boy whose parents are being questioned by child welfare workers.

Thomas Fie, of the 6500 block of West 108th Street in Worth, died at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights at 9:47 a.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy conducted Sunday came back inconclusive and requires further studies, the medical examiner’s office said.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect against Thomas’ parents, agency spokesman Dave Clarkin said. This is the first time Thomas’ parents have faced a DCFS investigation, Clarkin said.

Authorities in Worth did not immediately have any information.
