Woman robbed of ATM cash
A woman was forced to withdraw money from an ATM by three people who threatened her May 6 in the parking lot of a grocery store, police said.
The woman was walking through the parking lot of Fairplay Foods, 8700 Cicero Ave., when she was approached by two men and a woman, who asked if she had a Chase Bank card, according to police.
They said the victim denied having the card, and the other woman told her that she had a gun and directed the victim to accompany the three to a nearby store and withdraw $500 from an ATM.
The victim said she did not see a gun but withdrew the money and gave it to the offenders, who left on foot, police said.
Five cars were burglarized May 16 or 17 on the south side of the village, according to police.
A diamond stud earring, a silver ring and a wallet were stolen from the glove compartment of a car in the 10300 block of Lavergne Avenue, police said.
They said $5 was stolen from the center console of a car in the 4900 block of Wick Drive, while three credit cards were taken from a purse in a car in the 4900 block of Harnew Road.
Change was stolen from a car in the 10100 block of Alice Court, and a handicapped-parking placard was taken from one in the 4500 block of 102nd Street, police said.
Resident mugged in driveway
An Oak Lawn man was attacked May 16 in his driveway as he prepared to leave for work, according to police.
The man told police he backed out of his driveway about 4:30 a.m. in the 9700 block of Southwest Highway and noticed he had a flat tire.
When he got out to check, he noticed that two tires were slashed, and four men then jumped him, punching him in the head and face before running away, police said.
The victim said he believed the men were hired to attack him by a man with whom he has been involved in a dispute.
