HOMER GLEN

BURGLARY: An empty safe and an iPod were stolen and an empty cash register was broken into during a burglary Aug. 6 at Tazza Italian Ristorante, 14065 Bell Road. Entry was gained by smashing a hole in a wall from the restroom of an adjacent business, police said.

DOG KILLED: A 10-year-old Chihuahua mix was found Aug. 6 shot to death in a ditch in the 14000 block of 167th Street. A relative of the owner was watching the dog for a few days and had let it out a couple of days earlier but the dog did not return, police said. They said the person posted fliers on the missing dog after it did not come back, leading to a caller saying where the dog could be found.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Someone tried to break into a house Aug. 8 in the 15000 block of Acorn Lane.

VEHICLE BURGLARY: A cellphone, $40 cash, two power drills, saws and three hammers were stolen Aug. 13 from a vehicle in the 14000 block of Boulder Drive. A window was smashed to get inside.

VANDALISM: The front windshield of a vehicle was shattered and the hood was gouged Aug. 13 in the 15000 block of Weather Vane Lane.

ORLAND PARK

POT POSSESSION: Nael Ali, 25, 15264 Catalina Drive, Orland Park, was charged with possession of marijuana after a July 23 stop on Wheeler Drive, police said.

MARIJUANA CHARGES: Matthew Leibovitz, 18, 22638 Country Lane, New Lenox; James Yost, 18, 24137 Heatherview Drive, Manhattan; and a juvenile were charged with possession of marijuana after being questioned by police Aug. 6 in the parking lot of Orland Square Mall, police said.

POT POSSESSION: Hasan Khatib, 20, 4 Fox Lane, Palos Park, was charged with possession of marijuana after being stopped Aug. 7 in the 8600 block of 142nd Place, police said.

DUI ARREST: Kerry Koepp, 34, of Shorewood, was charged with drunken driving, speeding, improper lane use and no insurance after a stop Aug. 8 in the 7600 block of 143rd Street, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Clifford Baker, 43, 8058 Ellis Ave., and Michael Brewington, 45, 6625 Drexel Ave., both of Chicago, were charged with retail theft after stealing nearly $600 worth of merchandise Aug. 8 from Sephora at Orland Square Mall, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Reginald Taylor, 47, 15307 Turlington Ave., Harvey, was charged with retail theft after stealing $324 worth of fragrances Aug. 8 from Sephora at Orland Square Mall, police said.

HARASSMENT: Claudio Dorkin, 42, 12900 Crestbrook Court, #8, Crestwood, was charged Aug. 10 with assault and harassment through electronic communications after sending text messages to an Orland Park woman after police had ordered him to stop communicating with the woman, police said.

FORGERY: Harold Lindsay, 49, 602 W. 115th St., Chicago, was charged with forgery and identity theft after using a fraudulent Arkansas driver’s license to purchase $3,000 in electronics Aug. 10 from the Apple store at Orland Square Mall and nearly $5,000 worth of jewelry the same day from Helzberg Diamonds, police said.

DUI CHARGE: Erik Rhodes, 35, 1229 Douglas Lane, Crete, was charged with drunken driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and improper lane use after an Aug. 11 stop in the 16000 block of LaGrange Road, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Paula Grout, 57, 1600 W. Albion, Chicago, was charged with retail theft, driving without a valid license and improper lane use Aug. 11 after a stop revealed she had hundreds of dollars in stolen clothing from Express at Orland Square Mall, police said.

POT POSSESSION: Matthew O’Boyle, 19, 14335 Heatherwood Court, Homer Glen, and Alyssa Quagliato, 20, 11417 Steeplechase Parkway, Orland Park, were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor after a stop Aug. 11 on Orland Square Drive, police said.

MARIJUANA CHARGE: Michael Aher, 29, 8557 145th St., Orland Park, and John Sullivan, 26, 10535 Campbell, Chicago, were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after they were stopped Aug. 12 outside Orland Square Mall, police said.
