A Harvey man who allegedly beat and choked the mother of his child has been charged with criminal confinement, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, strangulation, domestic battery and interfering with reporting a crime.
The charges were filed in Lake Superior Court in Indiana against Khristaan Miguel Hillard, 38. He allegedly assaulted the woman on March 6 in the 300 block of Buchanan Street in Gary after he demanded she take him home immediately and she refused because she was preparing to wash clothes at a laundromat.
The woman told police she blacked out twice from being choked and that Hillard threw her cellphone while she was talking with a 911 operator. She suffered bruises, scrapes, cuts and swelling on her face, neck, side and legs, and was treated at Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary.
The most serious of the charges is punishable by six to 20 years.
