In your view, what are the two most important issues face your constituents? How would you address those issues?
We must continue to provide our students with a world-class education while
maintaining low taxes. Our mission is complicated by the lack of adequate,
timely funding from the State of Illinois. My goal is to aggressively
pursue the state monies owed to our district and then to use that money to
continue building a reserve fund for the future.
Please explain how you believe the office you’re seeking can help in creating local jobs?
We must continue to recruit, hire, and retain quality administrators,
teachers, faculty, and support staff. Many of these employees have been and
will continue to be part of our community. We must also continue to examine
the desirability of tax increment finance (“TIF”) districts in order to grow
the district’s commercial tax base.
Do you believe the current way Illinois pays for education is working? If so, why? If not, why not? If so, what? I believe that the State of Illinois has not adequately funded public education. My goal is to continue pursuing the monies owed to our district
and then use that money to continue building a reserve fund for the future.
Would you make any changes to the budget of the governing unit to which you are seeking elected office? If so, what? We must continue to provide services to students in a cost-effective manner
and be sensitive to the needs of our taxpayers.
Are there any other issues you want to bring to the public’s attention? If so, what?
I believe that public education is the backbone of our nation. My
tremendous respect for the men and women who work in education is a result
of witnessing the dedication of both of my parents, who were public school
teachers for more than 35 years each. Here in Frankfort, we are fortunate
to have such a talented and dedicated superintendent, administration,
faculty, and support staff. I will be an enthusiastic supporter of our
schools, our teachers, and our children.
