6 years elected Homer Glen Trustee.
In your view, what are the two most important issues facing your constituents? How would you address those issues?
I believe the two most important issues are Taxes and Economic Development. I was on the committee to incorporate and as a founding father I promised the people that I would not support a municipal tax and I have kept my word. Commercial development will bring the needed tax dollars to support services for our residents and help support the schools. It is time to step back and re-evaluate where we have been and where we want to go with commercial development. We see the surrounding communities successful in commercial development and we have not been a part of that. While we may not see ourselves as the big box developed area, we could benefit from significant anchor stores in Homer Glen.
Please explain something significant you would like to accomplish within the next two years if you are elected to the office to which you aspire.
There are significant improvements scheduled for 159th Street and 143rd Street our key commercial corridors. Both will become four lane roads, some intersections will have double turn lanes. Funding is approved for both and construction for 159th is targeted to begin in 2013. These two improvements are an opportunity of epic proportions. We need to concentrate our efforts and take full advantage of the encouragement that these improvements will provide for commercial development.
Please explain how you believe the office you’re seeking can help in creating local jobs.
Employment will be one of the many benefits of successful commercial development.
Would you make any changes to the budget of the governing unit to which you are seeking elected office? If so, what?
It appears Homer Glen continues to operate under a balanced budget however the question is; are we deficit spending. All budgets can be improved and as a fiscally responsible trustee the yearly budget review is necessary.
