In your view, what are the two most important issues facing your constituents? How would you address those issues?

I would have to say the budget will always be an important issue, parents and taxpayers want fiscal responsibility on a consistent basis. The district must continue to explore new avenues for revenue as well as controlling expenses. The second issue would be the No Child Left Behind Act, a challenging program with demanding goals which increase yearly. The challenge for the district is to develop strategies and programs that will increase the focus of these subjects and help motivate the students.

Please explain something significant you would like to accomplish within the next two years if you are elected to the office to which you aspire.

I would just like to be the most effective board member that I can be, to be able to work with the other board members and the administration to make District 231 a great school district.

Do you believe the current way Illinois pays for education is working? If so, why? If not, why not? What would you change?

Funding schools is a difficult task. Relying on real estate taxes might work in good economic times but not as well when the economy is down. Empty houses, vacant businesses equate into no revenue. No tax dollars coming in and years of inadequate fiscal responsibility by elected officials has put Illinois in a precarious position. This has impacted school districts throughout the state as they wait for money that is owed to them, putting an extra burden on districts to find revenue in order to balance their own budget.

Would you make any changes to the budget of the governing unit to which you are seeking elected office? If so, what?

N/A

Are there any other issues you want to bring to the public’s attention? If so, what? N/A
