Political (elected or significant appointment) experience:

I was first elected to the Prairie Hills School District Board in November, 1995

In your view, what are the two most important issues facing your constituents? How would you address those issues?

The economy is causing more inequities in funding sources. Joblessness is one of the reasons more communities have an overabundance of home foreclosures and business closings, dropping our tax bases for local revenues. This loss of revenue sources, especially when businesses fold, puts a larger tax burden on the homeowners.

As a board member I can continue to work with our legislators to find as many funding resources as we can.

The best schools will enable us to market our communities in a more positive manner.

My goal is for us to continue to have experienced, dedicated administrators, highly qualified teachers and a cohesive board with well-defined educational and financial goals.

Please explain something significant you would like to accomplish within the next two years if you are elected to the office to which you aspire.

I want the children in our District to continue to make strides academically. The best education our children can receive opens up many different career paths they can pursue.

Please explain how you believe the office you’re seeking can help in creating local jobs.

Our school district employs many individuals from within our various communities.

Do you believe the current way Illinois pays for education is working? If so, why? If not, why not? What would you change?

Education funding is not equitable through out our area. Our local revenue sources are not adequate enough to properly fund the education arena. Businesses are leaving, in great numbers, homes are foreclosed at an alarming rate, which burdens the homeowners left with higher taxes. Let’s ensure the state and federal government can find and institute a less burdensome funding source for homeowners.

Would you make any changes to the budget of the governing unit to which you are seeking elected office? If so, what?

Our budget, at this time is adequate, with reserves.
