What are the New York Jets waiting for? Why don’t they put in quarterback Tim Tebow? Quarterback Mark Sanchez isn’t getting the job done.
I was riding around my neighborhood looking at the Halloween displays. Some of them were pretty scary. Then I came across a house with a bunch of political signs in the front yard. I realized some of the candidates we have to vote for. Now I’m really scared.

Why is Chicago broke? One reason may be because they have paid out a share of $53.6 million to defend former Chicago police Cmdr. Jon Burge. They have also paid $7.17 million in settlements. If Burge could not pay for his own defense, then he should have been treated like an everyday suspect. He should have had a public defender. The law needs to be changed to stop catering to individuals just because they were on the public payroll.
Every payment that comes in as a grant or as a gift should be deducted from the homeowner’s property tax bill. Recently, Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Foundation’s total donations topped the $3 million mark since the organization’s inception in 1984. At the same time our property taxes have gone up again. Let’s get it together. The problem is we have overbuilt. We need to close one of the district’s high schools. Bite the bullet and go after the core problems of budgeting.

Our national anthem should be presented with respect, dignity, pride and honor. Any vocalist who attempts to give his or her rendition should not be allowed to sing it in that fashion.
Is it my imagination or did the Detroit Tigers mascot get an awfully big fur ball in its throat and choke during the World Series?
I wonder how long it’s going to take before one of these weather people gets hurt or killed because they are out in the middle of these storms. Apparently their producers want the ratings. God help them if something happens to one of these people. I think it will happen. They should stop this nonsense.

When is Chicago going to wake up and realize they don’t have enough police officers? Why don’t they use the National Guard. This is completely out of hand. All you hear are excuses. The violence is still there. Use your head and bring the National Guard into these bad areas.
For the past few years there wasn’t anything. The 1.7 percent increase in the cost of living is better than nothing. Keep your chin up and keep on truckin’.
Illinois should make no changes in funding pensions until the state pays back every cent stolen from the teachers’ pension system. The best idea is to put it to the voters. Do they want pension costs included in their property taxes? It’s time to make cuts in the employment salaries and pensions of public servants and employees in state offices. In this electronic age, there should be a cutback and reduction in the number of secretaries and assistants needed.
I was a union member for 31 years. I’ve come to realize that unions are a necessary evil. They are necessary because they keep big business in check and help to protect our jobs. They are evil because they amass millions from the employer and employee and use much of that money to control their own political agenda. One hand feeds the other. We are the pawns. A reader commented that a Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan vote would eliminate the middle class. That’s baloney. Wake up! There will always be a middle class because we are the backbone of America.

When will our military leaders and strategists realize that Afghanistan and Iraq will do the same thing as the Vietnamese did. These two-faced rats will turn against us as soon as we leave just like the Viet Cong did. We lost thousands of men and women in these countries. They are still killing our people over there. The United States should have learned this lesson long ago. Let’s take care of the United States first.
The Democrats have used the taxpayers as a personal automated teller machine for the past 20 years.
I think all of his diluted followers should have a “Kumbaya” sing-along after one of President Obama’s feel-good, gimme-four-more-years, I-killed-Osama bin Laden campaign speeches.

Val Warner is the perfect lady for the TV show “Windy City Live.” She and Ryan Chiaverini are the best co-hosts they could have made. When Cheryl Burton comes on television, she thinks she’s so hot I turn the sound off so I don’t hear her voice. Warner is perfect.
Chicago has to fork out millions of dollars to black firefighters because they were supposedly discriminated against. Now we have the women who feel they are discriminated against. I have an idea. Get rid of the test altogether. Hire anybody off the street who wants to be a fireman. You cannot expect any qualifications because somehow it’s discriminatory? I’m sick and tired of this stuff. If somebody dies in a fire because your firefighter is incompetent then it’s too bad because now they have to hire the incompetents.
Someone stole flowers and candleholders off my mother’s grave. At first I was angry and furious. But when I though about it a little more I truly feel sorry for this person. What you must be thinking to steal from the dead is beyond my comprehension.
