I’m really ashamed of the way our government is helping out, or not helping out, with the people affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Hats off to the staff at Orland Township for their early voting program. They did an outstanding job.

I was sideswiped in a parking lot. I hope this person can’t sleep at night. You have no conscience. It wasn’t just a ding. It cost $2,800 to repair plus the cost of a rental car for five days.
Because of Illinois redistricting, I did not know in what district I would be voting until shortly before the election. The local media had not reported on candidates for my new district. I found information about U.S. congressional candidates but nothing about the candidates for the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives. I was outraged to find a famous Democratic politician was running unopposed. He was running on name recognition without publishing what his positions are. Shame on Republicans for not putting up an opposing candidate. My ancestors fled hereditary monarchs for democracy and the right to vote. For what?
Why don’t the teachers ask our soldiers how much they make and what they have to do to earn their money?

Once again the United States was hit by a disaster as a record, 100-year event, Hurricane Sandy, caused widescale destruction on the East Coast. I pray for those people. Jesus told his disciples that warning signs would come like birth pains. God gave the people of Noah 100 years to amend their lives before he sent the flood. I believe the end of this 100-year century is 2017 and there will be a chastising comet within this century.
It seems to me that every time an election comes around the main topic is whether you’re proabortion or against abortion and a woman’s right to choose. Women already have the right to choose so I don’t know why there is an issue. You can use birth control or not use birth control to keep yourself from getting pregnant in the first place.

Gift cards were being given to parents who picked up a report card. Those gift card were not given out for all Chicago Public Schools as an incentive as it appears to be stated in newspapers.
Why don’t they take all of the money that the Democrats and Republicans raised for their campaigns and political ads and donate that money to people in bad areas and for disaster relief? You get tired of seeing the candidates on television anyway.

I’m proud that I quit smoking. Both my daughters asked me to quit smoking so I can see my grandkids get married. If I kept smoking I wouldn’t be around to see that. I will take great enjoyment to see my grandkids grow up rather than smoking a pack of cigarettes.

Congratulations President Obama and state Rep. Derrick Smith on winning re-election. God bless America and the middle class. It’s been nice knowing you.
The problem in our society is the me-first attitude that some people have. Some people can be so selfish.
Everyone’s vote needs to count. The fact that we have an electoral college means that everyone’s vote does not count. If your state does not go the way you voted, then your whole vote just went in the garbage. Why even bother to vote? The president needs to be elected by the popular vote.
It would be easy enough for Illinois to solve its pension problems and its overspending and budget problems simply by adopting the same rules the private sector goes by. You should not be allowed to make more on a pension than you were when you were working. You should not be allowed to double dip. You should not receive a pension and then walk across the street and get a job in the same trade. The public sector needs to adopt the same rules that we have in the private sector. That would eliminate a lot of the problems.
You can tell all of the elections are over because the gasoline prices just shot up.

I enjoyed every bit of trick-or-treating on Halloween. I enjoyed the kids coming to the door. My border collie thinks they all come to play with her. She is overjoyed to run out and play with the kids. I hope you had a happy Halloween.
I’d like to sincerely thank the Palos Hills Police Department for taking their job seriously and putting their hearts into their work. Every time I take my daily walk I always see them patrolling. Although it is not often said, it is truly appreciated and very comforting to know that they are out there. Four stars to the Palos Hills Police Department.
I sincerely want to thank the American people for helping to re-elect President Obama. You have restored my faith in human nature and made the Tea Party fade into the night.
It’s been three years since my mom was around to celebrate her birthday, and I miss her more every day. Make time in your busy schedules to spend quality time with the people you love. Don’t take the special people in your life for granted because you never know when you might lose them.
