I don’t see why Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson from the TV show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” is famous. I think she is a spoiled child with no manners or talent.

The movie “Flight” depicts a drunken and delusional commercial airline pilot who flips his plane midair and then crashes and burns in an open field. I would say you can make a convincing case that this is an analogy of where the United States is headed with our current government leadership.

It’s a shame that the media is really beating down former CIA Director David Petraeus for having a woman on the side. After all, President Clinton did it. He ended up being a hero.

The American people need to understand that we are already at war with fanatic Islam. I think the misinformation, lies and incompetency of the White House is doing nothing more than fueling it and hurrying it along. We will see the day when we will fight fanatical Islam in our streets or in the Middle East. I think the media, because of its total incompetency, enhances this.

Why are they always taxing things that affect lower-income people like cigarettes, alcohol, gasoline and now the sale of private used cars? How about taxing mink coats, luxury cars and yachts? Maybe some day the United States and Cook County will get it right.

Why is the news media giving so much attention to U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.? I think he is a gutless worm. He should be removed from his position. Give that office to someone who will treat the people like humans. He is a disgrace to be in office.

I’m convinced more and more every day that the Democrats are looking for a dictator in the United States. We fought against dictatorships. Now the Democrats are voting for dictatorship.

The Tinley Park board wants to help the Holiday Inn expand so they are looking for funds to do so. They want to add more than 60 rooms to the hotel. Don’t we have hotels around 183rd Street and Harlem Avenue that used to catch the overflow from the Holiday Inn? What is that going to do to their business? Maybe the Tinley Park board would like to find money to help those hotels expand as well. It seems like if you help the left hand you should help the right hand.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the union that represented the Hostess bakery workers buys the company? That way they could retain all nearly 18,500 employees and give back to them everything they gave up. The only problem is: Who is going to pay $10 for a Twinkie?

Flame from Burbank

I think the Apple corporation has more money than the U.S. government. I have a proposal for them. With every Apple sold, give back half to the states for job creation.

To all public servants who receive their working money and pensions from the public treasury aka the tax trough and to all elected politicians and judges: What is your feeling toward someone who has worked their entire life to pay off, or should I say discharge, a mortgage but then, due to unforeseen circumstances, they can no longer pay ever-escalating property taxes on what they thought was their house? What should be done? What should be done to this person and or property? I am sure you have thoughts on this, so now is your time to speak out publicly.

BJ from Frankfort

To the person who made the comment about firefighters and veterans: What do veterans get? Apparently, we get to listen to individuals who disparage people who also lay their lives down for not only you but your property. Show some respect. It’s my opinion that the people making these statements got stuck in traffic for Chciago Fire Department Capt. Herbie Johnson’s wake and funeral.

While reading the Bible before church I felt profoundly thankful that I could read the passage. I was thankful to my mother and father who instilled in me a love of learning. I was thankful to the teachers who taught me how to read, comprehend and critically think about what I was reading. I was thankful to the doctors who care for my eyesight. I was thankful to those who fought abd died so I could simply read the Bible myself. So many people were involved in such a seemingly simple act. Thank you so very much.

I know smokers have rights but so do nonsmokers. If you are smoking in your car leave your windows closed and use the ashtray. Why do I have to smell your smoke in my car? If you can’t smoke in your home smoke in your closed-up car instead of smoking by your door. Why should I have to smell your smoke in my home? If you smoke in your closed-up car think of this: You will get more of that smoke you are craving.

I believe the current research into helmet safety design is flawed. Designers should focus on a helmet with exterior padding that would not resemble a Conehead but would take away the incentive to spear with the helmet. No one would lead with their helmet if there was a 3-inch foam-like padding on the outside. I do not think this is an outrageous idea. I am a graduate engineer with an advanced degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Could someone bring this idea to the attention of those doing the research so prototypes could be built?
