I knew someone with a mastiff. He was a gentle giant. They also had a bulldog. Dogs of any breed behave how they are trained.
To the thief or thieves that stole the bronze nameplates and flower vases off the headstones at Cedar Park Cemetery: You must have an awful low opinion of yourself to steal from the dead. You may not think anybody was watching, but there was and always will be.
I’m offended by the straight sex scenes on television, the “who’s my baby’s daddy?” women and the extremely casual sex. The media has become a sewer of low morals and no personal dignity. I am also offended by all the pro-gay propaganda. I’m sorry, but I don’t think gay, bisexual, etc., is normal. It should not be promoted like it is. Kids have enough stress without them being taught that gay experimentation is normal. Since when? I think straight is normal. We are animals after all. And my views have nothing to do with the Bible either. It’s biology actually.

If U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has done nothing wrong as he says, his wife Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson says and his father, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, says, then why is Jackson Jr. in a plea agreement with federal prosecutors? If I did nothing wrong I’d want to go to court. What is the matter? Is he afraid of going to court?
To those protesting the Alsip cross display: You are in America. Our money reads, “In God we trust,” and one of our most treasured American songs is “God Bless America.” This has nothing to do with state issues. It is strictly what Americans believe in. Instead of trying to cause issues, why don’t you help the poor, Hurricane Sandy victims, the Salvation Army and causes that represent our American people? God help all of you. God help you, Mayor Patrick Kitching. Keep up your tradition. I am sure there are many more for your lovely cross display than against it.

People are not jealous of people on the Link card. We are mad because there are so many people out there out of work. They don’t know where their next meal is going to come from and can’t get, if any, little help. Yet, people are claiming they can’t afford food but they are dressing nice and buying nice stuff. That is a slap in the face to the people who deserve help but can’t get it.
I am in favor of absolute term limits on federal and state levels. However, on the local level, I think term limits should be placed on consecutive terms. For example, if a person serves two terms, he or she would have to sit out for one term. After that they could run for office again. I think this would ensure honesty in government without limiting the talent pool.
Regarding the Internet: Easily the most obnoxious commercial on television is that imbecilic one where the guy is recording an accident on his cellular phone, and the young woman asks what he’s doing. Shortly, she makes the moronic statement that everything found on the Internet is true. Finally, she meets up with a contact she found on the Internet. He’s a doofus-looking lout. How about that for good advertising for Internet predators? Thanks a lot, State Farm, for portraying people as morons.

Someone responded to the complaint about all the news coverage for the death of Chicago Fire Department Capt. Herbie Johnson, saying these firemen lay down their lives to help people in need. First of all, they don’t lay down their lives. They may die in the line of duty like many other workers die in their line of work. Secondly, these fireman are well-trained to do this job and get paid very well. They are just doing their job. They are not saints. If every fireman quit tomorrow, you’d have people lining up for blocks to take their jobs.
The election is over. Get over it. Get on with it. If your side won, congratulations. Now stop gloating. If your side lost, stop crying in your beer and remind your Congress they need to work with the other side. Filibusters won’t help anyone especially the middle class. Congress, you all need to meet together in the middle. You must work with President Obama. Stop pointing fingers and whining to get this all done in four years. We, the suffering middle class, are counting on you. We are watching you all. And stop saying no. It’s sickening.
As retired Jane and John Q. Public, my wife and I have enjoyed recreational marijuana all our lives. We are not lowlifes but professional people who did our jobs straight and imbibed after hours. Many people have tried or still use pot. Like any other drug (coffee, alcohol. cigarettes, religion, etc.), you have to be in control. The war on drugs has been a huge waste of money. Yes, some people will overuse, but that happens with other drugs. Taxation on pot could bring substantial money to the coffers, but politicians would still find a way to squander that money.
About tipping: I’m just wondering. To the man who never eats at restaurants anymore because he doesn’t like tipping: Who does all the cooking at home? I’ll bet it’s not him.
Union workplaces are just like all other workplaces. Some employees are good and some are not so good. Everyone has the same opportunity to get a job that is unionized. Stop complaining about others and start taking responsibility for your own life path and move on. It seems that people spend all their time crying “poor me” instead of trying to improve themselves.
